Martial arts isn’t just about movement. It’s a full spectrum of external strength and internal balance practices designed for transformation. Internal practices include the Minor Universal Circulation (or Microcosmic Orbit) meditation. Believed to strengthen internal energy for a sense that is centered, calm, and bright.
Minor Universal Circulation Meditation
Minor Universal Circulation (also called Microcosmic Orbit) practice is a gentle Taoist meditation that guides awareness through the body’s main energy pathways; up the spine along the Governing Vessel and down the front of the body through the Conception Vessel. Together, these channels form a continuous energetic loop that supports the natural circulation of qi, or life energy.
In this guided practice, we use mindful breathing and relaxed attention to awaken and harmonize this flow. There’s no need to force or visualize anything complex. Simply breathe, listen inwardly, and allow your body’s own intelligence to guide the movement of energy.
Why practice it?
Circulating the Microcosmic Orbit can help calm the mind, nourish the internal organs, and restore balance between yin and yang. With regular practice, people report noticing greater emotional ease, improved focus, and a deeper sense of connection to themselves and the world around them.
This is a beautiful foundation practice for anyone interested in qigong, tai chi, or internal martial arts
